What To Do In Case Of Personal Injury

  1. Seek Immediate Medical Treatment: Your health should be your number one priority. Seeking timely treatment is a MUST, especially in Florida where your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage will not pay medical benefits if you fail to treat within fourteen (14) days from the date of your accident.
  2. Contact the Appropriate Governmental Authorities: when appropriate you must contact the police and when applicable obtain a police report. If you are not the party at fault, this will help establish liability and expedite settlement negotiations with insurance companies.
  3. Gather Evidence: Take photographs or videos of your injuries, property damage and the scene of the accident. Obtain telephone numbers and addresses for all potential witnesses. Exchange insurance information with others involved and keep copies of everything.

What Not To Do In Case Of Personal Injury

  1. Do Not TalkKeep your case confidential. When contacted by an insurance adjuster do not agree to give a recorded statement and do not volunteer additional information. Insurance companies will try to sweet-talk you into admitting facts that can be detrimental and even fatal to your settlement claim.
  2. Do Not Sign Anything: Refrain from temptation to sign any papers, waiver, reports or other documents without our legal advice. You were just involved in an accident. This is not the time to provide your signature.
  3. : Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Do not post comments, photos, links or videos involving your personal injury claim. Should your case proceed to litigation, your social media will be brought to light and anything you said will be used against you to misrepresent the truth.
